Journalism bio
As a freelancer, I contribute to Stuff.co.nz, The National, Gulf News and more. I also work as an Editorial Director for the Government Media Office in the UAE's northernmost Emirate, Ras Al Khaimah, which involves creating integrated editorial and visual social media content to promote the Emirate and position its Ruler, His Highness Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi, UAE Supreme Council Member, with leading local, regional and international media platforms.
Under my editorship, Your Weekend was awarded best newspaper-inserted magazine at the Canon Media Awards in New Zealand in 2017 and 2016. Working with visual journalists, print producers and digital editors, I was responsible for three weekly deadlines and uploading print content to New Zealand's leading national news website Stuff.co.nz.
I edited New Zealand's top-selling food magazine Healthy Food Guide, recruiting Olympian Sarah Cowley as a brand ambassador to introduce exercise and fitness to print and online content.
As deputy editor for the launch of a women’s lifestyle magazine, Irish Country Magazine sold 20,000 copies on its first national print run in 2012 and awarded Magazine of the Year at the Irish Magazine Awards in 2013. This intensive two-year project involved working closely with inhouse advertising and editorial teams to meet ambitious targets and adhere to strict publishing deadlines.
Prior to this, I worked as an investigative journalist for Irish Country Living.
